Best Answer

No, milk from a dairy farm is sent to market raw but chilled. The milk is taken to a processing plant which will pasteurize, separate and package the milk and milk products.

However, some dairy farms will pasteurize unsaleable milk (milk from cows that cannot be sent to market, such as that from cows who have recently received antibiotics or cows that just calved) to feed to their calves. Pasteurizing this milk makes it safer to feed to the calves and saves the farmer money by reducing the need to buy milk replacer.

Do they filter milk in a dairy farm?

No. Milk is not processed any further than pasteurization on the dairy farm. The milk collected into a big bulk tank on the farm is stored there until the truck arrives to collect the milk. The milk is then delivered to the closest factory that processes the milk, filtering out the fat to get several different types of milk (Homogenized, 2%, 1%, and skim) and deposits them in cartons or plastic jugs. The fat is saved for butter, cheese, ice cream, yogurt, and other dairy products, which are also made in a factory environment separate from the dairy farm. The only job of the dairy farm is to care for and raise the cows that produce milk, collect the milk from the cows using milk machines (and the advanced technology and hygiene associated with the seemingly simplistic task of milking cows), and store it in a bulk tank, and pasteurize it. A dairy farmer cannot nor has the facilities to do anything more with the milk than store it until the milk collection truck arrives.

Dairy farm milk is it homonize or paturize?

paturized I'm not entirely sure what this question is asking, but if the question is, "Is milk pasteurized or homogenized on the farm or at the dairy?", then the answer is -- at the dairy. Only the largest of dairy farms, the ones that include their own dairy, would be able to perform either of these processes.

What is the definition for the word dairy?

This article is about the dairy industry in general. For dairy farming specifically, see dairy farming.A dairy is a facility for the extraction and processing of animal milk-mostly from goats or cows, but also from buffalo, sheep, horses or camels -for human consumption. Typically it is a farm (dairy farm) or section of a farm that is concerned with the production of milk, butter and cheese. Terminology differs slightly between countries. In particular, in the U.S. a dairy can also be a facility that processes, distributes and sells dairy products, or a room, building or establishment where milk is kept and butter or cheese is made. In New Zealand English a dairy means a corner convenience store, or Superette-and dairy factory is the term for what is elsewhere called a dairy. As an attributive, the word dairy refers to milk-based products, derivatives and processes, and the animals and workers involved in their production: for example dairy cattle, dairy goat. A dairy farm produces milk and a dairy factory processes it into a variety of dairy products. These establishments constitute the dairy industry, a component of the food industry.Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dairy for the full article ;)
