mitosis occurs in the somatic cells-normal cells of the body and the meiosis occurs in the reproductive cells of the body.

as a result, mitosis results in cells containing the same number of sets of chromosomes as in the parent cell, while meiosis results in cells containing half the number of sets of chromosomes as the parent cell. for example, in humans, somatic cells contain two sets of chromosomes, one set from the mother and one from the father. mitosis results in daughter cells containing two sets of chromosomes. germ cells (cells which will become eggs or sperm) also contain two sets of chromosomes, but then undergo meiosis, resulting in daughter cells that contain only one set of chromosomes.

No

Mitosis reslts in 2 identical cells, meiosis results in 4 cells with half the number of chromosomes of the original cell.

So mitosis produces 2 diploid cells, meiosis produces 4 haploid cells.

Mitosis is growth, meiosis is production of sex cells.

there are two types of cell division

  • direct cell division / amitosis- the constriction of the plasma membrane .
  • mitosis -it includes four phases

Does cell replacement occur in mitosis or meiosis?

Its meiosis. Mitosis is cell division.

Why should the term cell division and mitosis should not be used interchangeably?

Mitosis is the process of cell division and is completed by the cell completely dividing.

How does a chromosome control cell processes?

A chromosome controls cell processes by biological processes such as mitosis and meiosis. These cell processes are what direct cell processes such as cell growth and division.

What process of cell division produces an exact replica of the cell?

Mitosis produces two identical daughter cells. You can remember that the form of cell division that produces two identical cells has a plus sign in it...the "t." Then you can remember that you get one cell plus another just like it.

What is the difference between cell division and mitosis?

cell division includes mitosis and meiosis. Mitosis is with one parent cell and meiosis is with 2 parent cells.
