not really because it is heavily compressed. other formats are better because the decoding doesn't need to constantly happen.
MPEG is just a video format.
mpeg 4
The video coding format MPEG is used through the web for video compression. MPEG goes up to MPEG- Part4 that is shortened to MP4.
Audio format: mp3,wma,wav Video format: avi,mpeg-1,mpeg-2
mpeg4 is high-def video format. Nowadays not all of the video editor support high-def format. So you need to pick up a good editing program. 1. Make sure what is your need. What about your video quality, video format when after edit 2. Choose a solution according to your demand. If you don't want something hi-def, then just convert it to avi, mov, wmv. etc. Or edit it with mpeg-supported video editor and export to SD ones. If you want a hi-def one, choose editor like ArcSoft ShowBiz 5 to edit in mpeg4 format, and directly output as mpeg.
I haven't used windows movie maker before. I kind of knowing it doesn't support mov format as import content. So you'd better converting the format into the contents that supported by windows movie maker, and edit it. Or you may try MPEG Video Wizard DVD to edit you mov videos, it accepts mov format as import content as well as output content.
MPEG-2
Ipod's "preferred format" is H.264, but it will take standard Mpeg-4. Itunes will convert Mpeg-4 into a format that the Ipod can handle.
MPEG was invented by the Moving Picture Experts Group. MPEG-1 was initially released in 1995 and is an audio coding format.
Mpeg-4
It depends on the movie and receiver. The formats are either MPEG-2 or MPEG-4. Our HD receivers are in MPEG-4 and the other receivers are in MPEG-2. Eventually they will all be in MPEG-4.
Movies from iTunes are delivered in the H.264 format which is subset of the MPEG-4 format.
