Well it depends on what it's doing. If it is red,swelled, warm to the touch, painful and discharging greenish puss then chances are good it's and infection. However if it's red, swelled, warm to the touch, painful and discharging clear fluid and is very itchy then it's a good chance that it's and allergic reaction.
