We are looking for the possible blood types of a baby.

Available information:

  • Baby type A neg -- this may be AA or AO with Rh (--)
  • ABO: must receive A gene from at least one parent
  • Rh: must receive Rh (-) gene from both parents
Baby receives one gene from each parent:

Note: parents can be Rh (++) or (+-), but we know baby gets (-) from each.

  • Mom AA/AO + Dad AA/AO = Baby Type AA, AO, OO
  • Mom AA/AO + Dad BB/BO = Baby Type AO, AB
  • Mom AA/AO + Dad AB = Baby Type AA, AO, AB, BO
  • Mom AA/AO + Dad OO = Baby Typw AO, OO
  • Mom AB + Dad BO = Baby Type AO, BB, BO
  • Mom AB + Dad AB = Baby Type AA, AB, BB
  • Mom AB + Dad OO = Baby Type AO, BO
There are a lot of combinations for the parents of an A neg baby. To narrow it down, if the parents are not available, then a survey of the blood types of the grandparents would be the next step.

We are looking for the possible blood types of MOM.

Available information:

  • Father type A neg -- can be AA or AO and only Rh (--)
  • Baby type AB neg -- can only be AB and Rh (--)
Baby recieves one gene from each parent:
  • Mother is type B neg -- BB or BO with only Rh (--)
  • Mother is type AB neg - AB with only Rh (--)
Since the baby is AB negative, and we know that dad gave him the A and a (-), then mom would have to give him the B and another (-). Therefore mom would be either Type B neg or Type AB neg.

Can 2 type o blood types have a blood type a child?

Parents of blood type O can only have children with blood type O. Because type O is recessive, you know that the parents are homozygous O.

Are all children of same parents the same blood type?

of course they can, it doesnt mean that if you dont have the same blood type as your siblings, your adopted or something. if your parent's blood types differ from each other there is a huge tendency that the sibling's blood types are different from each other. for exaple your father is a heterozygous A while your mother is a heterozygous B.. their children's blood types can be AB, and an O can also be one of the possiblities.. if its too complicated to understand then you can just learn it from your genetic lessons in biology..

How do you find out what blood type you are if your parents' blood types are O and A?

It's simple ask your Doctor for a "blood type" blood test. If your doctor has ever done blood work on you, he might have your type on file already!

How is one's blood type determined?

An individual's blood type is genetically determined. This means that the type of blood you have comes from your mother or father. If your parents have different blood types, you would inherit the more dominant type. However, types A and B are considered co-dominate. Therefore, if one of your parents is Type A and the other is Type B, it is likely that you would have Type AB blood.

Does your ethnicity affect your blood type?

You get your blood type (phenotype) from your parents, each of whom carry their parents blood types (genotype) in their blood. Your ethnicity plays a minor factor because some races tend toward different blood types, but any member of any race can end up with any blood type. Four children of the same parents could all have the different types of blood.

Can I find out my blood type by my body type?

Blood types are not related to body types. Blood is determined by your parents. There are 4 maternal and 4 paternal blood type possibilites. That then gives you 16 different possibilites.
