Yes to a relative degree. If you go to your local piercer and they use sterilized equipment and the appropriate jewelry you won't have an issue. If you get your mate with a needle to jab you and stick a paper clip in, you're a lot more likely to have some issues.
Well the biggest danger to nipple piercings is the failure to wait. Most people tend torush the healing time and start getting carried away with activities that can cause infections (oral contact, contact with unclean hands). The primary concern with nipple piercings is getting them done correctly. Not every piercer knows how to properly size mark and pierce a nipple be it female or male. Be sure to research the piercing you want, learn about the aftercare and follow what makes sense to you. Cleaning a piercing 3 or 4 times a day is just silly, who has time for that?
Research your piercer and know a bit about them and there skills, are they good? Ask to see a portfolio and ask about the procedure and what is involved, can you have a friend with you during the piercing? (If the answer is no then go some where else) Ask about jewellery choices, rings or barbells? I have found my clients heal better with barbells, less irritation and quicker healing. Rings have been out of the loop for a while due to the forcing of a curvature to a straight piercing, upon manipulation of the jewellery the nipples become sore. "D" rings offer the look of a ring but the comfort of a barbell.
Problems people have had that are of concern:
Not if she takes care of them & they heal properly.
Dont do it just to be cool. mmmmmk.
That you decided to get a nipple piercing.
Until a woman is 18, it is illegal for a shop to do a nipple piercing on her. For men it's not illegal as far as I know, but most piercing studios will not pierce someone under 16, others may refuse to do nipple piercings on a male under 18.
Piercing the nipple will enlarge it !!!! when you take yhe piercing out after a few months, the nipple will stay larger!!!
It varies from person to person, depending on the size of your nipple.
The jewellery needs to be 2 mm longer than the width of the piercing.
Many are motivated to get a nipple piercing for personal reasons including for self-expression and to feel unique.
Nipple piercing is not only for the look of the piercing but also for personal stimulation, once healed nipple piercings can be quite erotic and will add sensation when the right jewellery is in the piercings.
