In moderation, there is no reason to believe that oolong tea is unsafe for pregnant women. The same is true of other types of tea, made from the tea plant, including black tea and green tea. Tea is much lower in caffeine than coffee and the amounts of caffeine in 3 cups of medium to strong tea are totally safe for most pregnant women.

However it is important to remember that caffeine, which is a stimulant, stays in the body of a pregnant woman longer than before she was pregnant. High amounts of tea are probably not the best idea.

Some oolongs, particularly, those made of large, mature leaves, with fewer leaf buds or tips, are lower in caffeine, and a somewhat larger amount might be just as safe.
