They both seem very similar. I don't think it'd matter which one you get. Personally, I preffer GIMP due to the ease of use.

Probably, but not certainly, Photoshop. On the other hand, the Gimp is free, and is better at certain kinds of tasks. If you're trying to get a job as a graphic designer, then Photoshop, because it's an industry standard. If you're just doing it as a hobby, you might want to see if GIMP is "good enough" for you... chances are that it is.

It's a matter of personal opinion. Photoshop is probably used by more professional artists. On the other hand, the Gimp is free.
