Pashmina is a type of wool. This name was initially popular only in Asian countries like Nepal, India and Pakistan. And specially in KASHMIR (India). Now a days same wool is also known by name of cashmere. If you talk about wool standards, then only CASHMERE is registered name in WOOL ACT. And there are strict norms which people need to follow to get their products marked as 100% cashmere. So some of people have started selling CASHMERE on name of Pashmina these days. As Pashmina is not something which is governed by WOOL ACT. It is strange that people are selling silk scarves also by name of Pashmina. Pashmina names been misused so much that these days even scarves and shawls are sometimes named as PASHMINAS.
