Best Answer

Power = energy / time. For example, if a devices uses an ENERGY of 1000 Joules in 10 seconds, then during those 10 seconds it uses a POWER of 1000/10 = 100 Watts.

Power = energy / time. Therefore, the derived unit is joules / second, commonly known as the watt.

Is wave power and tidle power the same?

No, they are not the same. Wave power refers to electricity or high pressure pumped water which is derived from the transformation of the kinetic and potential energy of ocean waves. Tidal energy refers to electricity which is derived from the transformation of the kinetic energy of tidal flows through narrow channels or from the potential energy of seawater impounded from tidal flows.

How was the SI unit of power derived?

The SI unit of power is the watt, defined as joules/second. Joule is the unit for energy.
