A good educational grounding prepares a person for learning more easily any tasks that they may endeavor to take part in in the future. It seems that many of the things we learn in a normal education are irrelevant in our day to day lives, however we are learning to learn and if we are good at that then we are able to pick up more easily what is required to be successfully in our chosen field of expertise and be able to expand on it.

Education is important for everybody. Education is the combined knowledge of everybody through time. While much of our ability to survive comes to us through our genetic line, our abilities to live fulfilling, sophisticated lives all come through education. For example, birds have a nice life; they can build a shelter and raise their babies, find food, and fly to find food, but they do not have iPods, televisions, clothing, casseroles for dinner, fingernail polish, carpets in their homes, cool jeans, newspapers, or the ability to pass a large body of information to their children because they do not have education. Dogs are fun and can run around as they please, but they do not have cars, read books, teach their children morals, go to church, say prayers, go to the hair stylist and pay with their own money, have jobs and gossip near the water fountain because they cannot pass down large bodies of information and customs through education. Language -- and humans' unique ability to pass on information and customs through language (education) are what give our species the ability to have cool things, share our ideas, form arguments, make commitments to others, make remedies for our illness, decide our own fate, and give our children enough information to be able to decide theirs.
