Most of the time, raw food is dirty, and has germs in it that can only be killed by cooking. There are a few times when raw food is better, but, the majority of the time, it is better to cook the food before eating it.
Based on everything I've read, raw food is better. I've even read that raw meats help prevent fleas and ticks.

Storing prepared food above raw food seems to work better. The raw food thus has less chance of cross contaminating if the food is above it instead of below.

The opposite of raw food is cooked food.
Whole raw organic food such as certain kinds of fish, and poultry are better for your cat than store-bought canned, or dry food.

Steamed food takes out all the nutrients, so eat as much raw vegies as you can!! But the advantages are they taste DELICIOUS!!! Raw fruit and veg are lots better, though.(And still yummy!)
