The guy answered before me was an idiot. Saturated fat does not do you harm. Although researchers have tried to prove that saturated fat is bad for you, they have failed time after time. Which isn't to say saturated fat is good for you. If you want fat that is good for you, try monounsaturated fat found in olive oil.

A high intake of fat of all types, but particularly saturated fat, can increase the amount of cholesterol produced in your liver, and so the amount in your blood.

A high level of cholesterol in your blood is associated with increased risk of coronary Heart disease.

So yes, saturated fat is bad for you

The quick answer is bad.

The order from worst fats to best goes as follows:

Trans-fats ----> saturated fats -----> monounsaturated fats ----> polyunsaturated fats

The reason for this is that the trans fats and saturated fats are more flat molecules that can stack on top of each other more easily and therefore become solid at lower temperatures than the unsaturated fats. This means that the saturated fats and especially trans fats (all of which are synthetic because they don't occur naturally) lead to atherosclerosis (or build up of plaque in your arteries) and general hypertension (high blood pressure). An easy way to normally tell is pick fats or oils that are liquid at room temperature and avoid trans fats, then reduce your daily fat intake by trying to normally opt to boil/steam/microwave/grill or even add water to the oil, mix and use that to fry reducing your fat intake. Also to increase your omega 3 and PUFAs (polyunsaturated fatty acids) pick omega 3 enriched eggs, and opt to eat more fish instead of red meat.

Among the polyunsaturated fast the order from worst to best in your diet is:

Omega 6 ----> Omega 9 -----> Omega 3

The reason for this order is because normal diets usually have too much Omega 6 compared to Omega 3 so normally increasing omega 3 intake while decreasing Omega 6 is recommended. Omega 9 is not an essential fatty acid so your body can make it but it helps your immune system and can be found in large quantities in olive oil.

Really?! you need someone to answer this for you? What do you think why all fast food restaurants started advertising that they use 0 Trans Fats?

The answer is NO. It takes much longer for your body to digest saturated fats. If you need to gain weight, eat more protein.

Saturated fats, in the context of a healthy diet containing adequate supportive nutrition, are benign if not outright beneficial over a wide range of intakes. The idea that saturated fats clog arteries because of their cholesterol raising effects has no merit. Rather, the cause of clogged arteries is inflammation associated with excessive fructose and omega-6 fatty acid intake.

Whether a food rich in saturated fat is healthy or not depends up on whether it is consumed in the context of adequate supportive nutrition. Sadly, about 6 decades ago, the food manufacturing industry convinced government to demonize natural saturated fats such as butter, lard, beef tallow, and coconut oil. For many years these "healthy" fats were routinely characterized as "bad" so as to boost sales of products containing trans fats.

Saturated and trans fat are considered "fake", and are bad for your body. They clog, too. So try to not eat too many saturated and trans fats, as they are not healthy.
