I would say a good guess would be Canada. A year ago or so, there was an arrticle about how wild horses were being shot, and as any hunter should know, shooting horses in specific provinces is illegal! Then again, there sno knowing what goes on in other countries with horses, who know? perhaps there they are being shot too! In summary, the horses are almost always in danger. There's coyotes and wild mountain cats, that will easily attack baby foals or even grown horses oout in the wilderness.
When can a foal eat sweet feed?
Sweet feed is not recommended for young horses. Foals do best on their dams milk until they are weaned, then they do best on good quality hay and a vitamin and mineral supplement. Foals do not need extra hard feeds while growing. As a side note sweet feed should only be fed to horses with no known health issues and that are in work.

How do young horses behave after birth?
Sometimes they can look a little confused and bewildered but that wears off fast. Once they are up on those unsteady legs it doesn't take them long to find the milk supply and get aquainted with the mare. By the time the foal is 24 hours old, he should be interested in the world around him. If the weather is warm its good to let Mom and baby out into their own pasture or large paddock and let him explore his immediate surroundings. He should have better control over his legs by the time he is a day old. Most new foals will be curious about everything they see. If there are other foals around, it is a great opportunity to socialize and learn to be a horse. Many larger farms will put mares and babies together after the first day or two. Horses learn to be horses from other horses, and babies need to socialize and find where they fit in. And they love other foals to play with. But make sure when you put mares with new foals together that the pasture is big enough so if a new mom is nervous she has space to take her baby off away from other mothers. If your vet was not there for the birth, this is a good time to have him out to check on the new arrival and to give the mare an exam to make sure she is doing ok. This is also a great time to start your foal's education. The more they are handled when young, the less trouble you will have when they are older.

What is a good foal deworming program?
Most foals don't need to be dewormed until they start eating grass on pasture; even then, provided the adult horses have been regularly dewormed there isn't much need for a foal to be dewormed. I would suggest not developing a standard program, but rather working with your veterinarian to address worming issues as needed in specific foals.
