Its according what you mean by shouting. If your talking about ordering them around and demanding they do something or using a loud threating voice then it is not okay. I happen to know that it will cause a child to be nervous and grow up to be a up tight nervous adult. Having a parent that did this all the time at home. Most of the time the parent had a parent who did this too. Stress causes this and it caused me to do this to my children when I became a parent. When this happens now,I sit down and try to destress before speaking with my children

Excessively shouting in the extreme can lead to hearing loss, and damage the esteem of the child leading to long term problems. If a person shouts too much at a child, then there Might be a case for child abuse. It depends on the situation. It must be judged on a case by case basis.
