Yes.
The good that comes from skinning animals is that the animals that have been skinned have no skin anymore! :)
Mohair is from clipping an Angora goat, not skinning it. Skinning it is completely removing the hide AND the hair, and is only done when the animal is dead. Clipping is done when the animal is alive and is only done to remove the hair. Clipping is much less painful than skinning.
Skinning animals alive is a rare event, whit most animals skinned it represents an undesirable risk for the individual doing the skinning. Some animals used for meat and fur produce higher quality meat if they are bled to death and a stunning blow is delivered to enable the animal to be bled out it our struggle that would hurt the handler or the meat, this bleeding step can be combined with the skinning but that practice has faller out of favor because it bloodies the pelt.Strictly speaking animals never need to be skinned; In the developed world a variety of alternative to animal furs exist (though this answer does not answer the question)Individuals with strong stomachs can search for "Chinese fur trade video" in any search engine and find a video of a Chinese fur farm skinning live animals, purportedly the reason is that it is faster and or easier to skin them alive, it is unclear that this is true.Human animal abuse for the sake of animal abuse is common enough to explain the majority of these cases.
That would be silly. Even if they do skin cats, it would be easier to kill them first. What would be the reasoning for torture before skinning or skinning alive?
NO ! - 2002 study by international veterinarians found that 98 percent of the seals were harvested humanely and were dead before skinning which compares favourably to other harvests of wild and domestic animals no most of them were alive
They did torture many of their captives. This practice was shared with most (probably all) other tribes in the eastern woodlands cultural region. Skinning alive? No. Descriptions by early white travelers described burning captives with hot embers, beatings, cuts, jabs from sharp sticks, etc. but not skinning alive.
Well , there is MILLIONS and MILLIONS of animals rescued from abuse . It is estimated that 500 or more animals are rescued from abuse a week.

Because the people who are involved in this business don't think even for a moment of what they are really doing other then make as much money as possible as quickly as possible. It would not be efficient to worry about that sort of thing. (Different commenter) Also, I hear that it makes it easier to skin the animal and keep the hide in one piece when they are still alive. So combine that with it being cheaper to not get drugs to at least knock out the animal, and...
There are a great number of ways to abuse animals. You can abuse animals just by not giving them love.
See website on skinning game animals; step by step photo procedures will be shown.
600 animals die from abuse each year.
