my rat i had to take to the vet because mukus came out of her mouth and nose
i sugest take your rat to the vet first, if the vet says there is nothing to do so the shower thing . Also, if you just got her, stress or the new environment may be making him/her sneeze. Allthough, your rat may also have an upper respetory(spell check, lol) infection, rats are prone to those.
SOMETIMES,
I have rats, they sneeze all the time. Every rat I have ever had sneezed. Its just either water, bedding or food seasoning that gets on there whiskers. But see a vet anyway, because one of mine had a cold once.
There are many reasons why rats may be sneezing. Most of the time, it is an allergy to household dust. If it is constant sneezing, there is more cause for concern.
Here are some of the common reasons for sneezing in rats:
If you have wood shavings covering the floor and it is too fine then that can cause the rat to have respiratory problems.
Get the dust out his cage...
Ummmm... I don't think that it is normal for your pet rat to hiccup squeak like that... Just to be safe... Get him checked by your local vet. I hope it is nothing...
You can get a pet rat from most pet stores.
I don't have a pet rat!
Emily Carr had one pet rat.
That isn't blood, the red discharge around your rats nose is called porpythrin. It depends how much there is; porpythrin is normal for rats to have every once in a while; rats also get it around their eyes, too. Don't worry about it unless it appears that your rat's "crying blood" or sneezing red liquid or they have so much on their nose that it's drpping.
a pet rat can have many health problems my rat actually died from upper respiratory infection
African Pouched Rat.
I think it is not the best idea to have it as a pet, but if you were a really crazy person who would have a snake as a pet you would keep that rat thingy. but anyway a mole rat, my answer would be NO!
Abraham Lincoln had a lot of pets, and some were unusual pets but he did not have a pet rat.
You can leave your pet rat alone for 2 days but it is not advisable; attention is key.
Sure.
