In hydro power or solar power the energy source is pollution free but the process of manufacturing and building the plant is not of course.
Advantages of using solar energy are pollution-free, noise-free, on installation it produces free energy, clean and renewable. Disadvantages include high cost, energy dependent on sunlight exposure, power stations are expensive to build and devices powered by solar energy cannot be used at night.

Solar energy is not bad, however, the production of materials to produce free, clean energy has its negatives. For instance, it requires a great amount of fossil fuels and using rare materials to make the solar panels. Chromium and mercury are waste materials that cause disposal issues.
