YES! A good, old fashioned spanking is a time tested, time honored, effective tool for raising healthy, happy, obedient, well behaved, well mannered, and respectful children. Do so lovingly and calmly, but also soundly and memorably. The occasional pants down bottom warming has worked for millennium, and don't believe anyone who tells you otherwise.

Spanking means : the act of slapping on the buttocks, and is usually administered by a parent on their child when the child has behaved in an unruly manner that is undesirable by the parent. The parent then punishes the child by repeatedly smacking the child's bottom with their hand or another device (wooden spoon, paddle, strap, etc.) in a manner so that it is painful for the child's bottom. This is to correct a child's misbehaviour and the usual effect after a spanking is that the child does not repeat the undesired behaviour again for fear of experiencing the pain of the spanking again. Parents may spank on a clothed bottom or bare bottom (it is up to the parent) and use whichever device (hand, paddle, wooden spoon, etc.) they feel will best correct their child's behaviour. When a spanking is done correctly, meaning on a child under 12 years old, and leaving no marks such as bruises or welts (except for a red/pink bottom, which is unavoidable and permittable), it is not considered abuse on the child and teaches the child a good lesson and prevents them from repeating the undesired behaviour, therefore making them safer (if the undesired behaviour caused unsafety for them, for example running out onto a busy street, which they will now not repeat because of the threat of another spanking) and/or a better citizen (if their misbehaviour was, for example, stealing a candy in a store, which they will now not repeat because of the threat of another spanking). Many believe that giving their child a few minutes' pain and a tender botttom for the remainder of the day on which the child was spanked is a decent act for insuring their childs' safety and/or correct behaviour, and therefore choose to spank their kids, and so it is considered a correct way to discipline your child.

What you are spanked with should be considered. I would recommend parents not use their hands, which should always bring love and comfort. Neither would I use anything that could break the skin. Spanking should not leave bruising in any form and should never be on any part of the body except the buttocks or palm of the hand. The spanking should be in private and not cause embarrassment or humiliation, such as spanking in the nude or in front of viewers. If parents are consistent in both their love and discipline, spanking is rarely, if ever, necessary, but again, it all depends on you.
