If you are feeling better and not too loopy from the pain meds, go ahead!
It is difficult to keep it in control without medication, and fulminating cases even require emergency surgery.
This condition is called Hyperhidrosis. There are few options available if you do not wants meds or surgery. I have added a link below that has some interesting tips on the various thing available.
I recently had surgery, and I was able to drive about a week later. (I probably could have done it sooner, but you will probably be on pain meds which interfere with your ability to drive). As long as you can handle the pain of sitting up as your stomach muscles heal, you can drive. I would say that without meds you could drive within a day or two.
Anepidural is time released meds and it can last as long as your anesthesiologist sets it to, from a few hours to a few days. I had complications with my C-Section, and they left my epidural in for almost 3 days. That is rare, but it was easier to deliver my meds that way since it was already in place, and the easiest way to relieve my pain after the surgery. They hook you up to a little box that is programed to release little amounts of pain relief at a time. When the box is about to run out of meds, a little alarm sounds, and a nurse will "refill it" with more meds.
They can perform surgery, do doctors morning rounds, deliver daily meds and double as a means of transportation around the hospital.
If you're having pains that the doctor can't seem to pinpoint the cause of they'll end up sending you to a doctor to check out your spinal cord. Or they'll prescribe pain meds.
Always consult your surgeon or surgeon's nurse PRIOR to taking any medication, prescription or otherwise. Most surgeons recommend stopping meds at least 7 days prior to surgery; however, depending upon the type of surgery to be performed and the necessity of taking the medication you are requesting your doc may advise you to continue your medication.
Meds was created in 2020-12.
My dog just had one, and in the end it was about $400.00 with anesthesia, meds and labs. She is older, though and she needed extra "stuff" before and during the surgery, so this did add to the cost. Hope this helps and best of luck to you and your doggie! :o)
Of course you cannot drink alcohol after surgery, the pain meds prescribed would cause havoc if alcohol is then introduced. It is not advisable to drink when taking pain medication. However, once you have healed and are no longer on medications, it would be fine to drink some alcohol.
