I'm not 100% sure if there's any poisonous cheese, but I wouldn't recommend eating mouldy cheese. Even scraping the mold off won't help. And just for the record, NEVER give a dog cheese, a fair amount of cheese in a dog can be dangerous and may cause kidney failure.
No it is not, but always smell and check the cheese to make sure it hasn't fermented. mac n cheese can be poisonous if you let it sit for to long and it spoils, and if you dont you could get very sick.
It's probably not poisonous, but it's not good for you. The mould that grows on cheese that gives the furry, fuzzy blue, green and white mould that isn't supposed to be there had quite deep roots. Even if you cut off the surface mould the roots remain and will give the mould bloom very quickly. Basically, if it's not supposed to be blue and it is then you are best to throw it out.
Incidentally, blue cheeses or those with a bacterial rind like Brie or Camembert are less likely to go mouldy. The tasty, harmless bacteria that are introduced to the cheese act as competition to other moulds and so they will last longer.
I buy large blocks of cheaper cheese and find that freezing it in usable portions means I never have that 'I need cheese on toast, but I think this is past its best' dilemma any more.
NO!!Why would cheese its self be sold if some were poisonous!!duughgh
If it is spoiled, and if the dish was made with any dairy products, then yes, food poisoning may occur.
Spoiled
yes, she is.
no its not
As I have 5 cats, I give my cats all the time but I have never had to take them to the vets about eatin cheese. So it isn't poisonous :)
Do you think cheese would be sold if it was poisonous?!?!
It smells like rotten cheese or spoiled milk.
Nothing. Blue cheese is all ready "spoiled" since the blue comes from mold as the cheese ages. You will be all right.
it can be if the maker of the cheese happened to have put poison in it, but i really doubt that would happen. So no. cheese cannot be poisonous :)
no, it will become very hard and will taste like spoiled milked once defrosted
If the can is open than you should not eat it because it could be poisonous, rotten, or spoiled and that is a major risk for your health. So if it is open do not eat it. -Dr. Bill Yates
(unintended) Mold on cheese permeates the entire brick due to the effect of the spore. Health officials recommend that you discard any cheese that has signs of (unintended) mold. For cheeses that are normally not strong smelling (cheddar, fresh cheeses, etc.) a strong "pee-like" smell indicates that the cheese is spoiled.
