I have discovered, in treating my son's infliction of Idiopathic Scoliosis. Scoliosis is caused by tension, from a tight tendon. When I started my treatment on my son Matt, after a year of 18 to 20 hours daily in a brace. And physical therapy 3 times a week. His angle had increased from 60 degrees, to an increase of 7 to 67 degrees in that time. When I started working with Matt. He stood crooked, walked crooked and drug one leg. I had an X-ray taken, and a cob angle measurement done. Matt's angle is now less than 50 degrees, without surgery. He no longer has a low shoulder, walks with no problem. And runs with perfect form. I know I am right, by the improvements I was able to get with my son. No one should ever have spinal fusion for Idiopathic Scoliosis it would have to put the back into so much more tension. Doctors now see an angle needing correction, not tension needing to be removed. I just cannot understand, how people highly trained in cause and effect theories. Would be doing what they are doing.

If there is pain, bracing probably will not help. Surgery is the only other option.

Doctors of chiropractic would certainly be willing and qualified to examine someone with scoliosis, and there are indeed strategies that can be employed to potentially slow or halt the progression of idiopathic scoliosis. A chiropractor will be able to determine how severe the scoliosis is, how often it needs to be monitored, at what stage a surgical referral is required, and what kinds of options exist for treatment. In some cases, a chiropractor may even be able to help reverse a scoliosis without surgery. For example, if you have a functional scoliosis (caused by unequal leg lengths, unilateral muscle trauma, unilateral hip problem, etc.), then if you are not too old (younger than 55) and the curve is not too severe (less than 30 degrees), a chiropractor will likely be able to help reduce or eliminate the scoliosis. Treatments would include one or more of: orthotics, spinal manipulation, stretching, muscle strengthening, etc.

I assume you mean scoliosis. Scoliosis is a curvature of the spine that occurs naturally in people. It is genetically inherited. The curvature is either a C or an S shape. Many people who have scoliosis have such a mild form of it that they don't need to do anything to treat it. It just stays as it is and doesn't affect their health. Some people suffer more severe socioliosis. It is possible to detect it when a person bends over to touch their toes. One shoulder and one hip is higher than the other. Initially sometimes a strong girdle/brace is used to treat scoliosis without surgery. There are mixed results on that one. When all else fails surgery is required. It is a painful surgery. Plates have to be inserted into the person's back in front of and behind the spinal column. They are held in place with nuts and bolts. These plates and the nuts and bolts are never removed or the scoliosis will return. It is a long, painful recovery. Teenagers and children tend to recover faster than adults but it can take up to one year to feel completely functional and healthy again.
