Some of them suspend it no matter what is happening, while others respect requests to wait from different programs. Also, some of them suspend the computer and will not allow it to awake on a scheduled event; others don't have this problem.

It depends, if you got things on your PC and you want to keep them runing into the next day then use Hubernate or standby there both like a same. And shutdown well that's not hard to think of.
