A sin is something that is bad like murder or lust or any thing really immoral. A temptation is something that you want but it can lead to a bad decision (example: eating an extra donut) OR lead to a sin. Trials are tests and obstacles which can lead to temptations and/or sins. A trial might be a struggling to get control over a person's drug abuse.

No, temptation is the desire to do something wrong, while sin is the actual act of doing something wrong. Temptation becomes sin when a person gives in to the temptation and acts on it.

No it is not. It only becomes a sin when one succumbs to that temptation and then only if the temptation causes one to commit sin.

When does temptation become a sin?

Temptation becomes sin when you give into it. Some people think that temptation itself is sin, but that is not true. Jesus was tempted for forty days in the wilderness, and he was perfect - the only person to ever fulfil the law in every part. Therefore, he could not have sinned, which means temptation is not sin. Doing what you are tempted to do is sin.

Is temptation a sin?

Temptation itself is not a sin, as it is a part of human experience. It becomes a sin when one actively chooses to give in to the temptation and commit an act that goes against their beliefs or values. Resisting temptation can lead to personal growth and a stronger sense of self-discipline.

How would you use temptation?

As a Presbyterian Minister, I would probably use it as a sermon illustration! But, more seriously, I would use the universiality of temptation as a warning for people to keep up their Christian strength by constant Bible reading and meditation; constant prayer; and constant vigilance. I would also use the old hymn, "Yield not to temptation, for yielding is sin" to remind them that encountering temptation is not a sin; giving in to it is. I all of the above, of course, I am assuming that we are talking about temptation to sin, as opposed to benign temptation.

What is the Greek meaning of the word temptation?

The word for "Temptation " in the New Testatment Greek means: a putting to proof solicitation, discipline. It is like a test...not always in a good sense because when applied to God it can mean making God prove Himself to us. Temptation is NOT sin. Giving in to temptation to do evil IS sin. Matt 26:41 "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak."

Will you forgive me?

Do not do what you would undo if caught?

The quote is attributed to Leah Arendt. It means don't do something bad when you will regret it when you are caught for doing that bad thing. Jesus taught us not to give into the temptation to sin because we will suffer the consequences for giving into that temptation to sin.
