the will fit but they are not the same seat. the 750 seat is just a little shorter than the 920. I put one on my 920 until I could recover the original.
remove seat virago 1100 1998
780mmm
two bolt under the front seat left side and right side. they will be a metric Allen head
It's under the seat. It will be the largest of the relays, usually marked.
if it is the same as for a 1982 xt 250, you should first remove the seat and the gas tank, then only you have access to the engine.
Under the seat accessible on the right side after you take off the cover. (by simply pulling with your fingers.)
I'm not sure about the Virago 700, but on the 535 it's under the right side-cover, under the seat, clinging to the side of the under-seat gas tank. If in doubt, follow the thick positive wire from your battery, it goes straight into the relay.
the Yamaha symbol underneath your headlight is your fuse box, remove the two screws and there they are. there are also some relays underneath your seat if you havn't already found those.
It appears to have the same part number. I compared a 1990 xv750 with a 1986 xv700 and they both have Yamaha part number 3CF-24730-10-00. I have an '86 xv700 so I'm always shopping for interchangeability. I use bikebandit.com or servicehonda.com for their OEM part finders. I can select my Virago and get the part number then start comparing to other models and years of the Virago. Helps a lot with searching online and on ebay for parts.
The Yamaha XJ750J, also known as the Maxim, is a cruiser whereas the XJ750RJ, the SECA, has more of an European racer style. They have the same engine but have a different gas tank, body panels and seat.
Hi, the relay box is under the seat . It is the large black plastic cube or box hooked to the bikes frame by a rubber strap.
It's very easy take your seat off by turning the helmet lock key oposit direction and lift off seat. You will see at the base of the tank where the seat was covering a rubber pad. There is a clip there that slides aft then you just have to disconnect the fuel line on both sides from the petcocks. Drain your tank first.
