No, not at all. The Old Testament was the revealing of God's word to the Israelites; the New Testament is the revealing of God's word to ALL mankind. In a very real sense The Bible is first and foremost for NON-Christians, that through its teachings one may learn of Christ and have the opportunity to choose whether or not to believe in Him. After all, no one is born a Christian; thus everyone who comes to the Bible is a non-Christian unless and until they believe in it and obey its commandments.

Romans 16:26 - but now has been made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures has been made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith

Acts 17:30 - Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,

No, the bible is not only for christians to read.

Answer:

No. On the "Last Great Day" [Judgment Day], the books of the Bible will be opened to judge the resurrected dead, great and small, regardless of nationality or religious belief.

"He that rejecteth Me, and receiveth not My Words [the Bible], hath one that judgeth him: the Word that I have spoken [the Bible], the same shall judge him in the Last Day.

"For I have not spoken of Myself; but the Father which sent Me, He gave Me Commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that His Commandment is Life Everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto Me, so I speak." (John 12:48-50)

"...I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened... and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works." (Rev.20:12)

God began giving His Word [His Commandment] to Adam: "...And the Lord God commanded the man..." - Gen.2:16; when all the future nations of the world were still within him.

God's Word is for all of mankind.

Was the Qur'an or Bible written first?

The Bible - Mohammed lived after Jesus. The chapters of the Old Testament were written over a thousand years before Jesus was born. The Bible (New Testament) was written several centuries before the Quran. It should be noted that the Muslim God is not the Christian God therefore from the Christian's point of view Quran was written to deceive the believers. The Muslim believe that the Bible is the corrupted document with some truth in it. Since I (personally am a Christian) and an eyewitness to a miracle my firm faith is in what the Bible states only. and the Quran is false.

Why are sacred writing important to belivers?

To answer that question you need to know: WHO DECIDES whether something is 'Sacred' or not?Do 'believers' get to decide that? Some 'believers' consider the Bible 'sacred'. Others do not.Or would 'the Writer' decide something is sacred, and then expect the readers to consider it 'sacred'?Actually, if Almighty God had the Bible written, then that's reason enough for 'believers' to consider the Bible as a 'sacred document' from the Creator of the whole Universe. So to answer that question from the Bible's perspective: Why are sacred writings important to believers? The answer would be: Sacred Writings are important to 'believers' so that the 'believers' would know what the Creator wants them to know; How He expects them to conduct themselves. They can learn about what God's ORIGINAL Purpose really is, when he created this thing called 'man~KIND'. Was God's purpose to inhabit the heavens; or was his purpose to 'inherit the earth'. The 'sacred writings' would reveal the Creator to his Creation.

How can God's revelation of Himself through His Word be harmonized with scientific discoveries?

There are several available explanations, depending on your beliefs: # The Bible was only written by men, who did not fully understand the word of God. The Bible should not be read literally. # God really did reveal himself through the Bible, but science is wrong. This is the position of some creationists. # God really did reveal himself through the Bible, but we do not understand the Bible, or the original text of the Bible has changed so much that it no longer says what it should say. # God is not infallible, and when he tried to reveal himself, there were some mistakes made. # There is no God. The Bible was only written by men, who my well have been pious believers but were not inspired.
