When you see a church called the "Church of Christ", it is not a Mormon congregation. The Churches of Christ is a different Christian denomination.

The "Mormon" church did call itself the 'Church of Christ' for the first few years of it's existence, but then changed to be called the 'Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' to avoid being confused with this other group.

So, "Mormon" is a nickname for the 'Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints'.

The 'Church of Christ' is a different group.

Both the 'Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' and the 'Church of Christ' began in New England during the Second Great Awakening, and both consider themselves to be Restorationist Christian Churches. Because of this, they do have some similar beliefs.
