If it's 3-speed gearbox, it's 3T40. If it has 4 speeds, it's 4T60E. See http://www.gmautomatictransmissions.com/transmission_applications.php.
It is a TH125C(3T40) 3 speed.
Only the 5-speeds. You can't swap automatics without running into problems, and you can't swap an automatic for a 5-speed without modifying (and it will still throw an engine code afterward). A 1992 Corsica had a 3T40 automatic, and the 1995 Beretta had a 4T60E automatic. Your best bet is to swap in another 4T60E. It came in a lot of GM vehicles. Go to car-part.com and enter "1995 Chevy Beretta automatic transmission" in the search for a list compatible transmissions and prices in your area.
If it is a 3 speed automatic it is TH125/TH125C/3T40 If it is a Manual it is a Getrag F23
Which transmission? 3T40 automatic has 3. Getrag manual has 5.
If your transmission is automatic it will have a 3T40 or THM-125C they are both the same transmissions just different names. Completely flushed the transmission will hold 10 quarts, if you just drop the pan and change the filter it is 4 quarts.

The automatic transmission in the 1991 Chevrolet Cavalier is the Turbo-Hydramatic 125, and was later renamed the 3T40. It is an automatic 3-speed used in similar j-body cars of the time. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turbo-Hydramatic_125
Automatic, either 3spd auto or auto O/D. You will have to do some research by VIN, etc., as I believe that was the last year for the 3t40 (125C). You probably have the 4T60E.

i'm not sure for that transmission, but i know for my trans, (GM 3T40) the band adjustment is the piston itself. if you look at the shaft on the piston, you might notice a couple of lines cut out on it. If so, that's the adjustment.
Two automatic transmissions were available in 1986. Three speed automatic (says PRND21 on shift indicator on dash on console) is a Turbo Hydramatic 125C (TH125C). Later models it was called the 3T40. Four speed automatic (says PRN@D21 on shift indicator, and says "AUTOMATIC OVERDRIVE" in tinier letters over that) is a Turbo-Hydramatic 440-T4. Later models had the 4T60 which is a different transmission entirely.
