Judaism 101: "Traditional Judaism firmly believes that death is not the end of human existence. However, because Judaism is primarily focused on life here and now rather than on the afterlife, Judaism does not have much dogma about the afterlife, and leaves a great deal of room for personal opinion. It is possible for an Orthodox Jew to believe that the souls of the righteous dead go to a place similar to the Christian heaven, or that they are reincarnated through many lifetimes, or that they simply wait until the coming of the messiah, when they will be resurrected."

Religionfacts: "Unlike the other monotheistic religions, no one view has ever been officially agreed upon, and there is much room for speculation ... A Mishnah passage says, 'This world is like a lobby before the Olam Ha-Ba [the world to come]. Prepare yourself in the lobby so that you may enter the banquet hall.' The tractate Moed Katan teaches, 'This world is only like a hotel. The world to come is like a home.' "

In other words, Judaism does have a heaven in some ways similar to the Christian heaven, although less importance is placed on it than in Christianity and it is not necessary for all Jews to believe in this. There is no generally held concept of hell equivalent to the Christian hell.

-----------------------

Judaism doesn't teach a concept of heaven. What happens after death is actually barely discussed in Judaism as the focus of Judaism is how to live this life and improve the world to the best of our ability.

There are some loose theories as to what might happen after death, primarily that after death our souls are cleansed and we either return to HaShem (The Creator) to wait for the world to come or we are reincarnated as a person to work to become closer to HaShem. There is also a theory that the soul of a person who does great evil throughout their life ceases to exist.

Is the Islamic Bible the same as the Jewish Bible?

No the Islamic Bible is completely different from the Jewish Bible. The Islamic Bible was written by Muhammad. The Jewish Bible was written by the Jewish Priests, whom God told what to write. The Islamic religion believes in killing the infidels (the Christians). They believe that they can only go to heaven when all of the Christians are dead. The Jews/Christians just want to spread the word of God to those who don't understand/know Him. So that they can go to heaven too!

Is the Jewish definition of heaven the same as the Christians or heaven like the sky sun moon earth and stars?

Where do you get your "Christian" view of heaven? I suggest you go to crosswalk.com and do a Bible study on the terms "paradise", "heaven", and "kingdom". While not 100% due to translation issues, you will generally find that the terms represent three different concepts. Investigate the relationship between Zoroastrianism, Judaism, and Christianity for more information. ==Answer: == Judaism does not focus much on the afterlife. There is no 'hell' in Judaism, like you find in Christianity. Judaism teaches that ALL righteous people will reach 'gan eden' or 'garden of eden'. But Judaism is very much about THIS life and making it moral and meaningful.

What are non-Christians?

AnswerSometimes people are described by what they are not, an arguably insulting practice but also sometimes a convenient one. 'Non-Christians' are people who are not Christians, whether because they are Jewish, Muslim, Hindu or atheist, and so on. In the same way, 'non-Muslims' would include Christians and others.

Why was heaven important in mythology?

The same reason it's important to Christians: it offers hope of reward for a life well lived, despite the hardships of that life.

What is the difference between Christians and gentiles?

Generally speaking gentiles are people that are not Jewish. However that is with the exception of some Jews that are also Christians. Normally, in the New Testament at least, the contrast is made between Jews (God's chosen people) and Gentiles (Non-Jews). Most Christians are in fact Gentiles at the same time, so the two groups are not exclusive. The same would apply to Jewish Christians. Of course it must not be forgotten that many Gentiles are also not Christian and so there would be a difference in terms of them accepting or not accepting Jesus Christ.

Why are most Jews not Christians?

Jews are not 'Christians' because if they were, they would be known as 'Christians', and not as 'Jews'. To put it in other words: As a 'Jew', the individual is, by definition, a 'Jew' and not a 'Christian'. Were that individual to become a 'Christian', he would then no longer be a 'Jew'. By the same token, my Aunt is not a bicycle, and my dogs are not watermelons.

How are christians and Jewish still the same?

Both religions worship one God, but the philosophies of each religion are quite different. There isn't much similarity at all.
