The King James Authorised Version of the Bible is a moderately accurate, English translation of the original Bible. Where the translators were uncertain about the original meaning and when they intentionally departed from the original text as they knew it, they placed the text in italics to inform readers of the fact.

The King James Bible is the most popular English language Bible in the world.

Please bear in mind that there are people with many different opinions about religion, who answer questions on this site. There will be no unanimous opinion about the credibility of the bible or the credibility of any other religious book, such as the Book of Mormon, the Qur'an, or Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health. If you want to know what is credible, lean to think analytically, and make your own assessment.

I like to say that yes it is true, but everyone has their own beliefs and my view on this topic is that you just have to have faith if you really honestly believe in God, Jesus, Heaven, hell. You can believe and if it's fake then you don't have anything to worry about when you die and you can not believe, but if it's real then what is gonna happen when you die? Think about it for yourself.

It is a matter of personal opinion. You believe whatever you want to believe, it is your right to do so.

As someone from a scientific background and family, I myself will say no, it is not true.

Why? Many events in the bible have been disproved by science. Two examples below:

  • With the sheer number of animals on the planet and the apparent size of the Ark in the story of Noah, it would have been impossible for the Ark to float, let alone travel around the world in time to collect them all. It would also have been impossible for the entire world to flood at the same time due to tidal differences caused by moon phase (the moon is a huge magnet for water on Earth. During full moons, there is a 30% higher risk of floods).
  • The 10 plagues of Egypt, if true, are easily explained:
    • Red water: Red Tide Algae infection. Common in the middle-east
    • Frog plague: Fish eat frog eggs. With the algae infection killing fish, nothing is around to eat the eggs, so the frog population booms
    • Lice plague & fly plague: These insects are attracted by dead fish
    • Pestilence: Caused by the issues noted above
    • Boils: The massive increase in flies caused this. A certain species of fly in the middle-east can cause boils if the bite is left untreated
    • Fire and hail: Volcanic eruption. Fire is caused by the volcano spitting lava very high into the air, same thing happened in modern times with Mt St Helens. Ash in the air creates a mixture of ash and water by mixing with the humidity in the clouds. The ash takes the water higher to colder areas of the sky, the water freezes and falls back down as hail. Ash contains chemicals that causes red lightening.
    • Locusts: Attracted by damp ground. The amount of hail caused by the volcanic ash would have made the soils damp. Locusts like damp soil because it's easier to lay eggs in (they bury their eggs underground).
    • Darkness: Again, the volcano. It's a common knowledge fact that volcanic ash blocks sunlight.
    • Death of first born: Traditions back then dictated that the first born ate before the second, third, etc born. Meaning they got more food. The issues above would mean the food would be scarce because the locusts ate the crops. The hail made the crops wet, mixed with locust faeces and possibly irrigated by water infected with Red Tide Algae, you get infected food. So, when the first born ate (the most) they were more likely to get ill and die.
There is very little scientific evidence for the events that happened in the bible.

It also needs to be noted that the bible was edited hundreds of times by many people. The first story about Jesus wasn't published until some decades after his death. By then, verbal stories would have been altered. You also need to bear in mind that the religion of Christianity was a creation by a Roman Emperor in order to attempt to bring the Jews and Pagans under his control. It's ironic that the crucifix, a terrible device used to torture criminals slowly and painfully, is the symbol of the religion.

You may believe what you wish, you have the right to believe what you want. Some people will say "yes" to your question. Others will say "no".

In my opinion - if the bible is true because it is all "written in a book", then by that logic, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings are also true.
