It's a fairly straight forward swap, but not completely painless. you will need to fabricate a motor mount, and do a little wiring. but it will bolt up to the aspire transaxle. not as easy as a b6 1.6L swap, but it's something anyone with some mechanical skill should be able to handle.

No you cannot swap a 94 into a 96 626 and vice versa. But you can use a 96 Ford Probe transmission in a 94 626. Check www.car-part.com for a list of transmissionsin your area. The listing will show alternative vehicles that the same tranny came in. I use it all the time when hunting compatible parts.

User Avatar

yes you can its a straight swap you don't even have to change engine mounts

If the tires are the same size then yes.

Yes, but removing the rear spindle is a lot of work and may require power tools or a press. A better alternative and a common modification for a Festiva is to swap the front hubs and rear end from an Aspire to a Festiva. This allows you much larger brakes, removable disc brakes up front, a rear torsion bar for much better handling. Some would say the swap is almost required as the Festiva stock brakes and suspension is horrible.

It would help to know what engine you're trying to swap in. Quite a difference between trying to swap in a newer engine of the same model and trying to swap in, say, a Chevy small block.

User Avatar

Depends on what you are trying to swap. Most parts are some are not.

User Avatar

yes the tranny from a 2.8/2.9/4.0 have the same bolt pattern.

User Avatar

No. The 99 Escort takes a 97 to 02 transmission.

I've seen it done without modifications to the wheel wells...15" wheels with low profile tires WILL fit.Keep in mind, with that 4x100mm bolt pattern, wheels to fit are going to be hard to find. I'd suggest deeply researching the Aspire Big Brake swap. You can find details of this, simply google 'Project Festiva' or 'Festiva Brake Swap.' It's a popular change, considering you get 3 times the stopping power, plus better handling with the Aspire front suspension. Just be forewarned: this swap requires pulling everything from the trailing arm out, on the rear, and the complete knuckle/hub assemblies up front.

Swap the relay with a known good relay.

User Avatar

yes, but it's not a direct swap. the 351W is a small block and the 360 is a big block. As such you will need to change things like motor mounts.Good luck

I have a 88 B2200 and i did a 318 V8 swap. Wasnt hard. Added coils to front. Welded in the mounts and changed nothing else. Fast but managable.

User Avatar

No they are different. The zx2 injectors wont fit an Escort head.

User Avatar

Yes, you can. That is a relatively easy swap, it helps to have the ECU (computer) and transmission from the donor car as well. It is best to use motor mounts that fit the body instead of the motor however.
