It depends on what you want to do with it. They are not even close function-wise. A DSi is going to be better to play DS games on than a laptop, a laptop is going to be able to chat online, surf the web, watch movies, use word processing, upload pictures, and do work. While a Nintendo DSi has a web browser, it isn't even close to the functionality and practicality of a web browser such as Firefox, Chrome or Safari on a laptop. In short, they are two separate machines and comparing the two is comparing apples to Oranges.
