It is a gentle and affectionate dog that can be possessive of its owner. It is calm and obedient, and is not as excitable as some of the other toy dogs. It is lively and playful, always enjoying a game or romp with it's family.
Its not exactly meant for extreme heat or cold, and its not exactly ideal for Papillons to live outside, though it is possible.
Papillons make great pets in rural areas, and they are wonderful lap dogs. They love attention as well.
