This is not an HDMI cable. Its for Playstation only. HDMI to DVI would be a cable, but does not support audio. We do not have a way to tap the audio off of an HDMI port.
Yes. The HDMI cord or HDMI plug at the PS3 end in the A/v cable allows the PS3 to have Audio and Video. How can you say a PS3 is working without Audio and Video
There is no truth in the statement. HDMI is an interface that carries digital audio and video signals. The image quality is dependent entirely on the quality and resolution of the signal that is delivered to the HDMI port by the video source. The HDMI connectors and cable carry that signal to the receiver but the cable does not change it in any way at all. DVI is compatible with HDMI other than the fact that there is no audio carried with the video signal. The video signal is identical to that carried by an HDMI cable and so this alone proves that statement to be false.
No. HDMI cable uses a 19-pin connector for twisted pair connections that carry video, audio and control in digital format.
Both DisplayPort and HDMI cables carry video and sound, so yes.
The PS3 is capable of outputting video from its HDMI port, while at the same time outputting audio from the PlayStation AV port. You would connect anyPS2/3 AV cable that had stereo RCA outputs (the pair of red and white plugs), but you would not connect the video plug(s) of that cable (S-video, RGB plugs, or a yellow plug). You would leave the video connectors unplugged because you are using HDMI for video. But a better option would be to connect a cable from the PS3's optical audio port for surround sound. If your surround receiver has a digital optical audio input, use that. It will allow you to hear 5.1 channels of surround audio. The red and white RCA plugs can only support 2.0 channels of audio (stereo).
HDMI is a connector standard designed fo rboth HD and SD video. It will carry both audio and video signals within the cable so it provides a single cable interface between equipment. It might be worth mentioning that DVI, the digital computer display interface that is gaining popularity is compatible with HDMI other than the fact that DVI does not carry audio. HDMI to DVI cables are available to connect computers to television displays. Therefore, any HDMI cable that has a DVI connector at one end or the other will not carry audio.
