Well sort of the fuel pump is in the middle of the car and the alternator is in the front or back depending on what type of car you have.
The fuel pump is the injection pump located next to the alternator and is run by the timing belt.
Fuel Pump recives alectrical power from alternator, change in alternator will change the value of voltage & ampere in the ckt which in turn will change the rate of fuel to the MPFI system. As a low cost measure , in a situation where fule pump is not to be changed but a change in alteranator is there, fuel pump needs to be calibrated w.r.t. top the desired metered fuel & with ECU in tandem sp that KMPL & Toruque & speed characterstics do not get disturbed.
The alternator normally has absolutely nothing to do with the fuel pump. However, since they are not too far apart, in the process of replacing the alternator, something could have hit the fuel pump and damaged it. So, while there is an extremely high probability the two are not connected, there is a possibility they are connected.
No, none
The fuel pump on a stock Type 1 Beetle is located on top of the engine case to the immediate left of the alternator.
Lower front of engine - follow the fuel line from the carb.
The fuel pump is on the passenger side of the engine down below the alternator and the fuel filter is either between the fuel pump and the carb in the front of the engine or in front of the gas tank underneath the car.
Out of gas, failed fuel pump, alternator, timing belt, crank sensor, cam sensor, computer, etc.Out of gas, failed fuel pump, alternator, timing belt, crank sensor, cam sensor, computer, etc.
Could be charging system (battery, alternator) or fuel system (pump, line).
the pump is in the gas tank and the pump is inline between the tank and the engine, close to the tank
Try a new Fuel filter, or a new fuel pressure regulator. Also check if the fuel pump is working, it could be electrical. Usually you can hear the pump buzzing if you're close to it.
If the inline fuel pump can deliver a constant 9 to 13 psi it should work. Wire it to the original fuel pump wiring harness and mount it as close to the fuel tank as possible.
