Curt Smith was born and grew up in Bath, England. Roland was born in Portsmouth and moved to Bath when he was a young teenager. In an interview in the movie "Scenes from the Big Chair", Roland and Curt recall meeting one another for the first time and their first impressions. Roland remembers Curt being in trouble that day and not being able to leave the house. He also thought Curt was Indian because of his tan. :)
