facing the engine you turn to the right it is r/ hand thread if you look at tne bolt head which is behind the pulley
Tensioner assembly removes with std. thread -- pulley itself is a left handed thread Clockwise to loosen
On my 97 3.8L V6 the bolt was threded backwards rather than righty tighty.
I used a breaker bar for the tension pulley to relieve the tension to remove the belt, I think there are three bolts that hold the tension pulley on, just remove them and reverse the procedure to install. Follow the diagram that is either on the inside of the hood or on the radiator cover on how to thread the belt back on the pulleys.
Yes, it is used to adjust the tension on the A/C compressor. Looking into the engine compartment from the passenger side it is to the left of the alternator. To adjust tension you need to loosen the bolt which holds the pulley and then adjust the bolt which is directly above the pulley. Once you have proper tension tighten the pulley bolt.
You can relieve the tension on your 1994 Mitsubishi Gallant belt by loosening the tensioner pulley. The tensioner pulley can be loosened by turning the retaining bolt to the left.
Not sure which of "the" bolts you are referring to. But every one I can think of on a voyager is right hand thread.
Serpentine belts have a pulley that is spring loaded. Tension is set automatically when the belt is installed.
Hiya, Have put new timing belt on 94 Camry 2.2, not a problem, but the tension pulley is not springing back to tighten belt enough, seems odd that the old belt had good tension, have checked and the new belt is the same length, is there a trick to the tension pulley? thanks.
First, remove the belt. Then, remove the puller mounting bolt. They pulley will slide off. Note that if you turn the bolt in the wrong direction, you will crack the tensioner and it must be replaced. If you are using a non-GM replacement part, you may have a 'universal' pulley that doesn't actually fit and now need to add or remove spacers or washers. Position the new pulley in place of the old one. I recommend applying blue thread locker to the threads of the bolt. Bolt it in. Reinstall the belt.
I have found using a socket with a racket wrench to be the easiest way to do it. When the tension is released the belt can be slipped off the tension pulley. The belt can be replaced the same way. Good luck.
Using a 15mm wrench, turn the bolt in the center of the idler pulley clockwise to relieve tension and remove the belt.
Pulley - band - was created in 1994.
