The country is definitely in political turmoil in 2019. This may be the most toxic politics and American culture has been since before the Civil War.
- Right wing extremist terrorists have killed more of their fellow Americans than Jihadis / Islamic terrorists since 9/11.
- There are internment camps for children and parents seeking asylum in the US
- There are mass protests and violence breaking out at the protests on a regular basis
- News has become increasingly politicized
- and more...
I would not be surprised to see more extreme reactions and cultural fracture in the United States in my lifetime.
