counterclockwise
Engine rotation is determined by sitting in the driver's seat. But engine rotation is of no consequence when determine firing order. It is the rotation of the rotor in the distributor that is important. That is easily found by removing the distributor cap and bumping the engine over and looking at the rotor. Does it rotate clockwise or counter clockwise?
Not true, if you look at a 1989 Distributor rotation for example on a LO5 350 TBI. you will see the distributor rotation is counter clockwise. Looking at the cap where it is square #1 is on the right then #8 next to it on left of square then so on in a counter clockwise rotation. #1 and #8 are positioned toward firewall. Believe this started in 1988. Now on my 1987 LO5 350 it's a clockwise rotation distributor with #1 up front toward front of car with #8 to the right of it and so on in a clockwise rotation. There also seems to be a lot of confusion on rotations of water pumps. My 1987 GMC Jimmy ( full size) LO5 350 was equipped from the factory with a combination serpentine/v belt System with one of the v belts running the water pump. Because the v belt runs the water pump it is a clockwise rotation pump. On 5.7 350 with full serpentine systems they are reverse rotation. If the pulley is of the v design it's a clockwise rotation pump if it's smooth it's a reverse rotation. Belt goes around the circumference of belt like the v belt does it's a clockwise rotation. If the back portion of the belt( serpentine ) contacts against smooth pulley it's reverse rotation.
I think # 1 is at the 1 oclock position standing in front of the carand looking at the driver.. It then goes 8436572 in a counter clockwise rotation .
looking from the top of the motor, the distributor turns clockwise. If you have a vaccum advance mounted, the vaccum line is always pointing opposite the rotation.
Looking at the distributor, the rotor goes clockwise. the Firing order OOPS 1342
Both Venus and Uranus rotate counter-clockwise while still orbiting the sun clockwise. Which ones are clockwise and which are counter-clockwise depends upon whether you are looking looking at the sun, and planets, from the north or south pole.
1-3-4-2 Distributor rotates counter clockwise.
Counter clockwise refers to the direction opposite to the rotation of a clock's hands. It is a way of describing the direction of movement or rotation in a circular or spherical system, where instead of progressing in the usual clockwise direction, it goes in the opposite direction.
all chevy V8 engine share the same firing order of 18436572 in a clockwise rotation of the distributor when looking at it from the top.
If you are looking for a Chevrolet- it is 1,8,4,3,6,5,7,2, clockwise.. If you are looking for a Pontiac- it is 1,8,4,3,6,5,7,2, counter-clockwise
1-4-2-5-3-6 Cylinders 123 are on the right bank. Distributor turns counter clockwise. ========================================================== Actually , the distributor rotor turns CLOCKWISE ( looking from the top ) on a 3.0L V6 engine in a 1987 Ford Aerostar
Loosen the distributor hold-down bolt. Standing in front of the vehicle looking at the engine turning the distributor clockwise advances the timing. Turning the distributor counter-clockwise is retarding the timing. Hold the distributor steady while tightening the hold-down bolt. Factory hold-down bolt needs a 1/2 inch wrench.
