The Hohle Fels bird bone flute is the oldest instrument in the world. A dozen pieces of griffon vulture bone were found dispersed in Hohle Fels cave in southern Germany in June of 2009. When assembled the instrument spans 8.6" in length with 5 holes. It is estimated to be 35,900 years old so it is really old.
