It really depends. Most jurisdictions will put a closed case's evidence in storage. Sometimes things get thrown out if space is an issue. In Los Angeles the evidence would have been put in storage. But as is true with many famous crimes, the evidence has a way of disappearing, philfered away for the sake of collectables and conversation pieces. So, officially the Manson evidence should be stored safely away, realistically, I'm not sure how much of it remains after 40 plus years after the fact.

The only mystery about the Manson murders is how can the human mind stray so far into the bizzare. Manson has been studied for years by the best that law enforcement and psychiatry have to offer. And still, he does not fit into any known mold or nitche.

Manson and his followers wandered up and down the west coast from below L.A. to Washington state. There are always unsolved murders and missing persons that are never found, so who knows. You can't hang a man on speculation.
