Can you shoot hornady's leverevolution ammo in your older 30-30 marlin lever action?

Assuming it is in good condition to shoot any modern day ammo, yes.

Can you shoot hornady's leverevolution ammo in a modern 45-70 Marlin 1895?

I have a Marlin 1895GS and have shot the Hornady 45/70 GOVT 325 gr FTX. Wow great long range accuracy. 250 yard shot. Had an 18 inch drop from a 100 yd shot, but after adjusting dead on.

What is a 17 caliber good for?

A .17 cal. hornady is good for anything from target shooting on up to coyotes. You have to remember a .17 bullet is smaller than a .22 bullet but it packs 10x the punch and is alot faster and flatter. I have a .17 in a marlin 917 laminated stock with stainless bull barrel it is sighted in at 200 yards. I have dropped a big coyote from 250 yards with it. I shoot the .17 grain hornady vmax bullets.

Anyone have Hornady reloading data for the 325 grain 458 FTX bullet for the 45-70?

I do, but I need to know if it's a 45-70 government (trapdoor), or a 45-70 government (1895 marlin). The barrel pressure difference between the two is enormous and I would not like your gun to become a bomb. The trapdoor is 25,000 C.U.P. While the 1895 Marlin is 40,000 C.U.P. Let me know and I'll give you the data.

You are looking for your first rifle primarily for white tail deer where do you start?

if you are hunting thick woods where you would be 100 yards or less, 150 if u practice i use a marlin 30/30 with hornady leverrevolution rounds.....plenty of power, cheap to shoot, low recoil...........If i hunt open fields, 150 yards plus, my choice is a ruger 7mm magnum, probably overkill but i love it.................all depends on size and experience of shooter and place being hunted......

Where can you get parts and a schematic for a 1967 Marlin 39A Golden Mountie?

You can go to BROWNELL'S Web Site and for a fee you can download the schematic and parts list for the 39A Marlin. Brownells or Gun Parts Corp. Brownells is always the better choice!

Where do you buy ammo for a 375 marlin?

Any more this caliber is very difficult to locate.I have a Marlin model 375 and hand load my own ammo.I enjoy it very much and it does a wonderful job on deer and black bear.I would suggest that you search the guns shops in your area,or on the internet to locate a box of .375 Win.ammo.The only load available to you would be the 200gr. Winchester load.I hand load the Hornady 220gr.Interlock bullet for my rifle.Good luck in your search.

Are .44 magnum rifles good?

I have shot no less than 2 dozen deer with the .44 magnum, and it is extremely effective on deer...using rifle or pistol...and I use both. It is actually a very good choice for deer. The recent development of Buffalo Bore .44 magnum and the Hornady LeverEvolution ammunition, has made this even more true now, than it was before. As for using them on any grizzly...while they are capable, they are most definitely not the best choice for the bigger west coast bears. Anyone who says they are good for grizzly bears, but not for deer has had very little hands on experience...and that is a stone cold fact. Step up to a rifle in the .358 Winchester, the .35 Whelen, the .444 Marlin, or the 45-70 heavy +P loads and you will do a whole lot better than the diminutive .44 magnum on the big bears...the .44 magnum is truly marginal for that sort of usage, and cannot be recommended. It depends on what you mean by good. If you are hunting deer, NO! If you are hunting grizzly bear...YES! Although any lower 40 caliber gun would get the job done on a grizzly.

Who makes 17hmr center fire rifle?

Nobody. The .17 HMR (for Hornady Magnum Rimfire), is a rimfire cartridge, not a center fire cartridge.Anschutz, CZ-USA, Henry, Weatherby, Ruger, Remington, Marlin, Browning, Savage, and Crickett are among the list of manufacturers who manufactures .17HMR rifles, but, as with the cartridge, they are all rimfire rifles.

What is the best ammo to use to hunt deer for the marlin 30 30 model 336A lever action rifle?

150 grains plus preferred, but not the Buffalo Bore 190 grain hawk bullet ones, as the are not made to properly mushroom on deer. The 30-30 is the all time #1 gun for deer hunting, and virtually everyone makes ammo for them...but I always leaned to the Hornady 160 grain FTX LeverEvolution or the Federal Premium ammo. You will have to buy as many different brands of ammo as you can afford and shoot them all to see which your rifle prefers. I would not go lower than 120 grains. Fixdeluxe1's Improvment:If you can get it,I recommend 150 Grain and up.Try Winchester ammo its one of the best and if Remington does 30-30 them too.
