The Kindle.
You should wait for the iPad mini with retina display, or else you might as well buy a kindle fire.
I don't think so myself. The iPad is a little bit bigger. However, Amazon does sell Kindle cases. If you want one, go look at Amazon.
There are two big deciding factors between these devices: price and ecosystem. Put simply, the Kindle Fire HD and Nexus 7 enter the market at $199 while the iPad mini debuts at $329. If you want to spend less money, the iPad mini probably won't be your choice.
Use the kindle app.
Hi there! First, is size an issue for you? Because if it is, then the 10-inch Kindle fire HD might not be for you because it is significantly larger than the iPad Mini. If, however, the thing you're basing off is price, then I would suggest that you go for the Kindle Fire HD. It is higher-specced than the iPad Mini and it has more features to begin with. IOS might have the advantage when it comes to apps, but then, the advantage ends there. There are fewer restrictions to Android and the fanbase is enormous. Customize as you want :) If you prefer iOS, then just buy the iPad 4. It is full-sized and is the most advanced iPad. Though it comes with a premium price tag. Sell used electronics at eCycleBest.com, eBay and Amazon if you want extra cash to add to your iPad 4 budget.
In some ways iPad 2 is better because it's big and in some ways iPad mini is better because the speed is better. It actually depends on you.
When trying to decide which is better, the iPad or the iPad Mini, it is important to consider factors such as screen size, cost and portability. The iPad has a bigger screen than the iPad Mini, is slightly more expensive and while it is portable, cannot fit in your pocket as can the iPad Mini. Decide what is most important to you out of these factors before making your choice.

Personally I would go with the iPad Mini if I had to choose.
