Can a intake gasket be blown without signs of a headgasket problem?

YES. The intake gaskets have NOTHING to do with the head gaskets. It is a very common problem that the intake gaskets blow. It is not common for the head gaskets to leak unless the engine was over heated, and I mean HOT.

What is the cost to replace intake manifold gasket on 1996 Buick century?

I just had the intake manifold gasket replaced on my 96 century yesterday and my bill was $450 but my gasket was only leaking out. If its leaking into your oil it may be more.

Where could engine coolant be leaking from on rear topside of engine on a 1998 350vortec it pours coolant out but can't see where from?

It is common for the intake manifold gasket to leak antifreeze from the corners of the intake. Need to replace intake gasket. Be sure to look closely at the intake were the gasket seals against it for pitts in the intake. There is a heater hose that goes into the intake on right rear corner in the back, but uo on top of intake. check closely. 1998 Chevy Silverado coolant in engine?

If you are sure that it did not freeze and crack the block, Then the intake manifold gasket is leaking. That is a common problem with the vortec Chevy engines. You need to replace the gasket with a factory Chevy gasket from the dealer.

How do you identify intake gasket problem?

Simple method... get some carb cleaner or starting fluid. With the engine running, spray the area where the intake manifold gasket is. If you experience sudden bursts of increased RPMs, you have an intake manifold gasket issue.

Is it common for intake gaskets and head gaskets to blow on a 99 Tahoe?

From 1996 to late 1999 There was a problem with the intake gasket design on the Vortec engines. They have sents redesigned the gasket and now it does not leak as often. Intake Gaskets leaking is a common problem. Now the only time you have a problem with the heads is when the engine is over heated, and I mean HOT. Then the heads warp and the head gaskets leak or blow. Chevy just don't have problems with the heads on the V6 and V8 engines.

What will cause coolant to get in oil head gasket or intake gasket?

The Intake gasket is leaking, NOT THE HEAD GASKET. Replace the intake gasket

4.3 vortex taking in water around the intake is this common with these engines or is my block probably cracked i have a lot of water in oil?

What is the cause of the intake manifold head gasket blowing on an 1999' Chevy Suburban?

That is a common problem with the Vortec engines, First place the gasket is not made of much as you can see. Antifreeze eats the gasket up over time. The ORANGE antifreeze is BAD. If the Intake was OVER TORQUED that will cause it to leak/ Go bad too.

Should you replace head gaskets during intake gasket repair?

No reason to if the intake gasket is the only problem you have. If engine was running smooth and was not overheated then there is no reason to fool with the HEAD gaskets

Can a bad head gasket or intake gasket result in water in the combustion chamber?

Answer Yeas absolutuley can, Typical of the 3.8 and the 3.1 motors, Have also seen it it in the 3.4 motors. What do you have? It is probably an intake manifold gasket problem, depending on the motor.

1997 Crown Victoria leaking water from intake gasket replace it two times still leaking?

maybe it's not the intake gasket. Maybe it is the intake manifold itself, they were bad about cracking. Also there is a coolant line that runs under the manifold that likes to leak as well. It's more likely to be a ruptured/cracked intake manifold as this is a common problem on these cars. See detailed info on the problem (and how to fix it) here: http://www.autoclinix.com/Manifold.htm
