A king snake is a harmless, popular beginner pet snake. Not for the squeamish, they are very flighty but cannot inflict severe damage on a grown adult.

the male king snake is a bit bigger then the female king snake and got lots of black on the belley and the female is a bit smaller then the male and does not have lots of black on its belley or take the king snake to a reptile pet shop and he will prob the snake and check if its male or feamale

yes, as well as king snakes, they are great for begginers.
Get other opinions to be sure, but I think a ringneck snake would be a good pet snake for children. They are not aggressive and feed on insects.

I found that a garter snake is by far the easiest to keep and it's very kid friendly.
Between the two of them a snake would probably make a better pet as they tend to be lower maintenance and are easier to get. As snakes go corn snakes and king snakes are usually the best pets.
