you must remember that baristers in crown courts can earn over a million pounds a year so if a solution was found and 50 percent of crime went down i dont think that would go down very well with the law society. who dont want to cut such well paid jobs so in some ways i think they respect criminals for paying their high wages and are very lenient on sentances . justice for the victim please and will only happen when you let parents of victims decide sentances
The original intent of probation was a good ideal, gone wrong like so many others. Probation was originally intended for those mistakes of crime; meaning a person may have committed a crime but was simply negligent to it (or didn't know). Probation today however is simply a form of criminal tax, that nets billions of dollars for cities / counties - and returns the wrong people to the streets because of drug punishment requirements that cause overcrowding of prison facilities. So yes, probation is too soft on the wrong people, and not applied to the right people.
It depends on several factors. That is too broad of a question to answer.
Technology makes absolutely no difference. If the offense is a crime according to statutes passed by the state legislature then law enforcment must and will respond to it. The second question is MUCH too open-ended to address, without being narrowed down.
Unfortuntately, the laws against cyber-crime are too few - too poorly written, and in many places are non-existent. You would have to contact your own local law enforcement organization to find out the answer to your question.
