Most teachers in the U.S. have no paid maternity leave, unless their union negotiated the benefit. In five states: CA, HI, NJ, NY, and RI there is state mandated short term disability insurance that will pay a maternity leave benefit, but it typically covers only employees in private industry. As most teachers are part of the public school system, they are considered government employees, and exempt from the mandate. Some school systems can choose to offer the state plan even though they are not required to do so. In the 45 states that do not have mandated coverage, teachers can still get maternity leave income by purchasing individual short term disability insurance prior to conception.
At present the Govt. is playing with the para teachers of this state.Without spreading any rumor all the para teachers must be united & go against the Govt. panchayat election is knocking at the door.We have to give the Govt. a alarming threat for playing with us since from last 18 months. Please be united. Para Teachers can now go for B.ed course leave with out pay....salary still remains 7425 for secondary teachers...Para teachers can work for 60 years and get Rs 1 lakh at the time of retirement....Para Teachers of Darjeeling seems to have different cinario as Darjeeling is said to be a disputed area and no SSC is applicable as if for now....Para teachers here if they have worked in their respective school as volunteer teacher before being appointed as para teacher and are working against a sanctioned post then there is a chance to get absorbed as permanent teacher after filing a court case... Para teachers were absorbed as permanent teacher in Bihar and some other states but we are still waiting for Bengal govt to do justice to the para teachers of Bengal.
(1) Aided school teachers are not govt. employees while govt. school teachers are govt. employees. (2) Aided school teachers are selected by School Service Commission in case of secondary/higher schools and appointed by the Managaing Committees of the concerned schools and, appointment is approved by the District Inspector of Schools. For primary teachers names of incumbents come from Employment Exchange. In govt. schools, teachers are recruited by P.S.C. (3) Pay & allowances, pensions, gratuity etc. of aided school teachers are debited to the grants-in-aid of revenues of the state while these are debited to the consolidated fund of the state in case of govt. school teachers. (4) Unlike aided teachers, the govt. teachers are liable to regular transfer scheme and eligible for earned leaves. etc.
