No. It is a two piece rubber seal.
The job of the rear main seal is to keep the oil lubricating the rear main bearing from leaking out. Older model rear main seals were made from a "rope" type of material. Today the rear main seal is a one or two piece seal made from neoprene rubber and is located directly behind the rearmost main bearing journal of the crankshaft.
From the factory, Lincoln installed a "rope" seal around the rear main bearing housing. Depending on the size (cubic inches) of the engine and or the date of manufacture, the rear main seal may require rope or neoprene. Also, keep in mind that a replacement seal for the rope may also be a two piece neoprene part. Word of advice. If the rear main seal is leaking, it's usually an indication of a worn rear main bearing.. Drop the oil pan after draining the oil and unbolt the rear main bearing cap.. The seal is exposed to the rear of the bearing and sits in a groove around the crankshaft.. It's not a difficult job, just dirty and time consuming.. If rope, loosen all main bearing caps and gently pry down on the crankshaft to unseat it from the block.. a fraction of an inch will do.. Then, gently insert a small screw into one end of the rope seal and with a pair of pliers, pull down on the seal while pushing up on the other end with a plastic or wood dowl.. The seal will roll out. Clean the area and insert the new rope seal using "chineese" fingers, which you can buy for cheap money. Follow the instructions on the seal package. Re torque the bearing caps and reverse for assembly. If neoprene seal is to be installed (much better than rope) just lubricate the seal with clean engine oil and roll it into the upper cavity as directed by the instructions. It must face with the lip inside the crancase. Insert the bottome half into the cap.. I use a very small dab of silicone at each end of the neoprene and rope seals just for insurance. Small amount is best.. All this information is avaialble on Youtube or in any auto repair manual. The procedure is the same for all older Ford cars..

how do you change a rear main seal in a Chevy 350 motor
remove transmission, remove rear main seal, install new rear main seal, install transmission.
To replace the rear window in a 1994 Chevy Silverado you must first remove the old window. This can be done by removing the seal around the window and gently pulling the window out. Apply rubber sealer around the new window opening in the truck. Wrap a rope around the rubber sealer of the new window and position it in the window opening. Carefully remove the rope once the window is resting properly in position. As the rope is removed the rubber sealer should hold the window in position. Reapply the rubber seal if it is available for extra security. Allow the window to set for 10 minutes.

THE REAR WINDOW IS HELD IN BY THE RUBBER SEAL. REMOVE ANY TRIM NEEDED TO GET TO THE RUBBER SEAL. START TO WORK THE SEAL OUT BY PUSHING OUTWARD ON THE WINDOW AND LIFTING THE EDGE OF THE SEAL THE WINDOW WILL START TO COME OUT. ONCE OUT REMOVE THE SEAL FROM THE WINDOW IF YOU PLAN TO REUSE IT. IT JUST PULLS OFF THE EDGE AND INSTALLS THE ON THE NEW ONE WITH NO PROBLEM. INTALLATION CAN BE A LITTLE MORE TRICKY IF YOU ARE WORKING SOLO. SO IT WOULD BE BEST TO GET A BUDDY TO HELP YOU. IN THE RUBBER SEAL THERE IS A CHANNEL WHERE THE IT ACTUALLY OVERLAPS TO MAKE THE SEAL ONCE ON THE TRUCK. IN THIS CHANNEL YOU WILL NEED SOME CLOTHES LINE OR SMALL ROPE. PUT THE ROPE IN THE CHANNEL ALL THE WAY AROUND LEAVING ABOUT TWO FEET OF ROPE OUT ON EACH END OF THE ROPE SO YOU HAVE SOE THING TO GET AHOLD OF. SET THE WINDOW ON THE LIPSTARTING THE RUBBER. HAVE YOUR BUDDY PUSH IN SLIGHTLY AS YOU PULL THE END OF THE ROPE YOU CAN PULL EITHER ONE AS YOU PULL THE ROPE YOU WILL SEE IT PULLING THE RUBBER SEAL BACK OVER THE LIP OF THE TRUCK. WORK IT ALL THE WAY AROUND AND YOU ARE IN BUSINESS. SOMETIMES YOU CAN ALSO USE SOME DISH SOAP TO LUBE IT UP IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE BUT YOU SHOULDNT NEED ANY. ANSWER YOUR QUESTION. I HAVE BEEN IN THE BODY BUSINESS FOR ABOUT 16 YEARS AND THIS IS A EASY FIX. ANYWAY GOD BLESS AND GOOD LUCK!
