To understand the relationship between physical body and Soul we must know the precise definitions of body and mind.
There is just one system in our body that we can feel and control. It is the skeletal muscular system.
The Body:
The skeletal muscular system has an isotonic component, which brings about movements. This is what we call body. The other systems of the body are represented in the skeletal muscular system and thus play an indirect role.
The Mind:
This is the isometric component of the skeletal muscular system. This can't bring about any movement. However, it can increase or decrease the power associated with a movement thus facilitating or retarding it.
All the skeletal muscles of the body can isometrically contract and relax (harden or soften) as a single unit called Unified Skeletal Muscle (USM), popularly called as mind.
Thinking, emotions, feelings, etc. occur in this part.
Relationship between body and mind:
Mind is a buffer, and filter interposed between our sensations and movements. Thus, mind is the shock absorber of our life.
It must be noted that when the mind is bypassed, the USM becomes part of the body.
Types of mind:
We believe that we have just one mind. This is because the right type of mind is selected for a purpose automatically.
There are seven distinct types of minds.
They are,
1. Dreaming mind
2. Illusory mind
3. Voluntary mind
4. Semi voluntary mind
5. Involuntary mind
6. Status altering mind
7. Compulsive mind
The default mind:
The Semi voluntary mind is our default mind. In this, there is a layer of Voluntary force sandwiched between two layers of Involuntary force. Beyond the layers of Involuntary force are the Positive and Negative attitudes, which act as walls of this mind.
The central Voluntary part, which corresponds to 50% tone of the USM is what we call 'I'.
The Involuntary part of our mind is what we call Self or Soul. It works on logic and it looks at similarities between the various activities of our life. Thus, Soul or Self is the binding force that unites all the activities of our life. Being Involuntary, it acts on its own.
This is in contrast to the Voluntary component, which works on reasoning, looks at differences and divides our life into independent compartments and is directly under our control.
In the Dreaming mind Soul is very little giving us total freedom to think. In the Compulsive mind Soul is the major component and thus 'I' plays a passive role here.
From the Dreaming mind to compulsive mind, the component of Soul increase gradually, and in the Compulsive mind it is almost pure Soul.
Thus, Soul lies in the USM and when mind is bypassed it becomes a part of our physical body.
The concept of the soul is often considered distinct from the physical body in many belief systems. The soul is thought of as an immaterial essence or spiritual entity that is separate from the physical form.
The concept of the soul is viewed differently across cultures and religions. In many belief systems, the soul is considered to be a spiritual essence rather than a physical entity located within the body.
The three parts of a man often refer to the body, soul, and spirit. The body is the physical aspect, the soul encompasses the mind, will, and emotions, and the spirit relates to the spiritual connection and essence of an individual.
Yes, Aristotle believed that the soul was superior to the body because it is the principle of life and intelligence. He viewed the body as the physical vessel that the soul animates and gives life to.
When Socrates mentioned "your departure hence," he was referring to the departure of the soul from the body at the moment of death. He believed in the immortality of the soul and that death was simply the separation of the soul from the physical body.
Plato refers to the human body as a "coffin of the soul" to emphasize his belief that the soul is immortal and the body is merely a temporary vessel. He suggests that the body restricts the soul's true potential and knowledge, acting as a barrier to the pursuit of philosophical wisdom and enlightenment. By viewing the body in this way, Plato underscores the importance of looking beyond physical desires and pleasures to focus on the eternal and transcendent nature of the soul.
Answer: You are a soul within a physical body. Answer: You are an immortal soul temporarily residing within a mortal body. Answer: You are a soul, one with the body, providing the form of the body, both inseparable, in the Aristotelian sense. Answer: Some say, you are a living soul (your body) and within you is a spirit (sometimes called a soul). It is a way of saying all parts human are spiritual and no part is exempt.
One popular belief is that humans are essentially spiritual beings that have a soul in a physical body. In other words, this "soul" is the combiantion of mind, will, and emotions. This "spirit" with the "soul" inhabits the physical body.

Soul force is resistance of evil with internal strength. Body force is physical resistance of evil. Gandhi practiced soul force.
