A water buffalo can grow seven times the lizard's size.
The biggest Komodo dragon was 10 feet and weighed 466pounds.
Yes. Komodo dragons are the top predators of their habitats. They kill and eat all sorts of large mammals, including water buffalo. They have even killed humans on occasion.
Depending on the size and strength of the mugger crocodile, the mugger crocodile has a better chance in water than on land. Since water buffaloes are very large and are adapted to swim in water, they are able to fight and maul a mugger crocodile with their horns if the crocodile is not careful. If the mugger crocodile and the water buffalo fought on land, the water buffalo would easily trample the mugger crocodile to death.
Lion's have more strength. The only reason that a komodo dragon seems powerful is when it takes down those giant water-buffalo it bites them first which releases a poison to slowly kill its prey. A lion kills by strength.
The komodo dragon is alive and well, although classified as vulnerable. It is not extinct. Komodo dragons are found on a small number of islands of central Indonesia, including Komodo, Rinca, Flores and Gili Motang. They are carnivorous lizards, feeding on live, large prey such as water buffalo, monkeys, goats, snakes and wild boar, and also scavenging on carrion, or dead animals.
Komodo dragons seem to hunt, when they are hungry. But I watched a television show just recently, and some people believed in that particular country that when a Komodo Dragon attacks a human it is normally their destiny. I particularly like the Komodo Dragon, even though it has a poisonous tongue and vicious claws and tails.
They eat almost any kind of meat ranging in size from small rodents to water buffalo
actually it would be a tie the komodo can win if it bites the salt with poison and the croc have a chance itcan snap the komodo
Komodo dragons do not have set timetables for hunting routines. They are just as likely to be spotted hunting during the day as at night. Sometimes it can take days for their venom to kill an animal like a water buffalo. The BBC documentary 'Life' in their episode "Reptiles and Amphibians" showcased a group of Komodo dragons bringing down a water buffalo during the dry season, but it took days for the venom to finally drop the animal. Though they initially bit him first during the day, the buffalo didn't die until the night many days later.
komodo can swim from 450 m (Auffenberg, 1981) to 1,000 m (I don't remember the name of researcher who says this). but my guide on Komodo National Park said, it can swim for 450 km.
I think the Chinese water dragon gets bigger, I have one that is over 30" long.
Obviously.
